The thought of a motorized surfboard has been around for decades - how to effectively get it done, well that is another story.  Many people that were around in the 70's probably remember one of the first attempts - The Surfjet.  While it was underpowered, and not very maneuverable it was really the first commercial attempt at a motorized surfboard.  The inventor of the Powerski Jetboard was actually one of the key people involved with that early predecessor.  From the beginning, Bob Montgomery realized that in order to create an exciting product it had to be cutting edge.  It needed to be powerful, fast, sexy, and it had to look and feel as much like a real surfboard as possible.  As you can see from the picture below, the Surfjet didn't really fit with Bob's ultimate plan - and his ideas seemed a bit radical for Surfjet and eventually led to Bob breaking out on his own.

Starting with some capital raised from friends and family Bob set out to make his dream a reality.  His garage was where he started, and 20+ years later - here we are, poised to take the world by storm with the only true motorized surfboard.

Powerski has distributors in over 60 countries worldwide.  Great White Jetboards is extremely excited to be involved in bringing the Powerski Jetboard to the many lakes and rivers across this great country of Canada.  While most Canadians don't really live the "California Dream" I believe most of us have thought about what it would be like to get out in the surf on a regular basis and rip it up.  That dream is now becoming a reality thanks to this amazing new product.

I had the pleasure of setting up the first Jetboard rental location in the world in the summer of 2008.  Having ridden all of the PWC's that have come to the market over the last couple decades I was anxious to see if the Jetboard was as fun as it looked, and if it would continue to be fun over the months, as most of my excitement in the past for other watertoys waned very quickly.  I can tell you that I had one of the best summers of my life running the Jetboard through it's paces.  7am - glassy water - not a soul in sight - just me laying down some big G-force turns.  Let me tell you, I put many, many hours on the Jetboard and can honestly say that I was a little sad to see September and the turning of the leaves, knowing that my days on the water were numbered.

The Jetboard is truly a unique watercraft.  It's relatively easy to learn, and for someone that just wants to take it easy and cruise its a great toy - and yet on the other hand, it is also very challenging for the people who want it to be - which is where I came in.  Mastering the G-force turns at 40+ mph is exhilerating, and the first time you really get that clean power-turn where your whole body is dragging in the water you will be hooked.  Trust me.

However, don't take my word for it.  Keep an eye on our website and make sure you get a chance to take one for a ride real soon.  I guarantee you won't be disappointed.  Great White Jetboards is committed to seeing our great product on every lake and river in Canada.  We hope to see you out there - Layin' it Down!!!!

Cheers!
